On August 24, 1925, with a gift of $1,000 and a dream of a better community, Dr. William Erastus Upjohn founded the Kalamazoo Community Foundation. Today, 85 years later, the Kalamazoo Community Foundation—your community foundation—is one of the oldest, most respected and successful community foundations in the country with assets exceeding $260 million. Today, instead of being supported by the philanthropy of just one man, the Community Foundation is supported by thousands of people from all walks of life.

During this our 85th year, the Kalamazoo Community Foundation celebrates community and philanthropy in their purist sense: the simple idea that it is our responsibility to look after one another. The tie that binds us all is our unique and continuing legacy of giving. It belongs to each and every one of us. And your participation, your philanthropy, no matter what form it takes, is vital.

Thank you for helping us celebrate 85 years of philanthropy.
